Why is Andalusia the perfect location for your intimate Destination Wedding or Elopement?

Lets Dance beneath the Stars & forget the world

Known for its sunny plains, rolling hills, cured Jamon, fine dry Sherry, mouthwatering tapas, eye catching polka dot flamenco dresses, haunting flamenco ballads and intricate guitar strumming, Spain is a country full of warmth, life and colour.

For couples who are looking for the perfect location for their destination wedding or elopement, from the wild countryside to the cobbled streets or the sandy beaches, Spain can offer a variety of stunning settings for such an important day.

With this styled shoot, I wanted to illustrate to couples that it is possible to still create your dream destination wedding or elopement on a more intimate scale alongside talented local suppliers.

Andalusia with hidden green valleys, rocky mountains and enchanting dusky views down to Rif Mountains of Morocco across the deep blue Mediterranean Sea, is perfection personified.

The Venue

Nestling artistically amongst the wizened olive and cork trees, is Finca La Almuña, lovingly built by the Arbuthnott family. The house, with eight private en-suit bathrooms used for their exclusive holidays, boasts of fabulous views which stretch over the white hill-top villages and beyond.

The cobbled courtyard, terracotta tiled roofs and sweet scented jasmine greet our bride and groom as they arrive.

Booking Finca La Alumuña is the ideal location to stay, with room to accommodate a select few to join your Wedding Day. In the safe and careful hands of Hughie & Clare Arbuthnott & their fantastic team, all your needs will be taken care of and they also offer sumptuous meals, cooked with locally sourced produce.

During your stay, you can also take a moment to create extra special memories with your other half, with handpicked walking tours, riding trips, wine and or food tastings. Let yourself be totally immersed in the regional culture or simply kick back and enjoy the sunshine (and gin and tonics!) by the poolside.

Making an Entrance

Every brides’ dream is to look perfect on their wedding day.

Under the expert hand of Liz Mayne taking care of hair and make up, our bride looked ethereal as she entered the rose scented garden. Liz used warm and natural tones to highlight our bride’s natural beauty and reflect the sun kissed colours of the Andalusian landscape. Her intricate golden floral hair piece by Confecciones Ronda glittering in the evening sunlight.

The Wedding Breakfast

For the intimate wedding breakfast, taking advantage of the glorious Spanish sun, we set the couple’s table on sweeping green lawns, with views over the dusky valley below.

For our stunning florals, by Pedro Navarro, we combined strong blues and fuschia colours to complement the flashes of colours from La Almuña’s garden and the local wild flowers. This theme carried through into the bridal bouquet and buttonholes adding rich and warm tones to the day, against the golden and green hues of the surrounding landscape.

In keeping with our natural theme, we used wooden charger plates and locally crafted mediteranean tiles as the placecards. Delicate rose coloured cupcakes by Kats Cakes Marbella adorned the table as wedding favours.

A Spanish Sunset

At La Alumuña, it was important to me to illustrate that you can use any element of your surroundings to create a memorable photo opportunity.

As the sun set, Balloonista was able to delicately float her balloons over the pool, so they danced gently in the wind. Against the sun and rugged landscape, we were able to add a modern twist to such rural surroundings.

The Most Delectable Feast under the Stars

Adding a touch of fun to this intimate celebration Kat from Kats Cakes Marbella crafted a stunning selection of desserts, which our bride and groom were able to enjoy under the stars.

From the bronze and silver tones of the macaroon tower, with mouthwatering cake pops in the couple’s favourite flavours, we were able to add that extra special touch.

For the wedding cake we wanted to create that was impactful but also incorporated traditional elements of Andalusia, with a modern twist. And so Kat designed an elegant yet playful single tier cake in traditional white icing - mirroring the white Andalusian Villages - with an electric splash of fushia and pastel pinks, finished with intricately crafted sugar flowers.

Under the starlight in the nearby olive grove, our Bride and Groom were able to graze on these delicious sweet delights. Accompanying them were locally handmade Dream Catchers from La Tienda Verde, making sure all their dreams for the future do all come true.

Capturing the Moment

No Destination Wedding or elopement is complete without commemorating it forever to film and photos. It is a moment that should be savoured by friends and family for many years to come. The photos of this styled shoot were expertly captured by Jason P. Howe and Juan Diego Rodriguez elegantly created the stunning video of the shoot. Both will preserving these magical memories for our bride and groom, under the stars, forever.
