Thrilled to be Featured in The Times: My Thoughts on Wedding Gifts

I am beyond excited to share that I’ve recently been featured in The Times! As a wedding and event planner, it’s always a privilege to contribute to important conversations within the wedding industry, and this time, I had the opportunity to weigh in on a popular topic: Should you expect a gift from your wedding guests?

In the article, I shared my thoughts on why a wedding gift is a meaningful gesture that shows appreciation for being invited to such a special day. Wedding planning has become more intricate, with couples putting their heart and soul (and budgets!) into making their big day perfect. Whether it's catering, venue costs, or those personal touches inspired by the latest wedding trends, weddings today require a significant investment. I believe that when a couple has gone to such lengths, it’s only fitting that guests show their gratitude with a thoughtful gift.

I discussed how the tradition of giving gifts has evolved, with many guests opting for contributions to honeymoon funds or other specific needs. I even mentioned one couple I worked with who had a fund for “doggy day care” while they were away on their honeymoon—a very personal and unique touch! This kind of gift helps avoid unwanted items and allows couples to use the contribution towards something that truly matters to them – especially as so many couples now already live together and have china sets etc, which were typically what you were given upon your marriage.

Being invited to a wedding is a privilege, and offering a gift is a small way to honour that invitation. Whether it’s a physical gift or a financial contribution, it’s a token of appreciation for the hard work and love that goes into planning a wedding.

I’m so grateful for the chance to be featured in The Times and share my perspective on this timeless tradition. It’s opportunities like these that remind me why I love what I do—helping couples create beautiful memories while also engaging in the ever-evolving conversations around weddings.

Thank you to The Times for this incredible feature, and to all the couples I’ve worked with for allowing me to be a part of their journey. I look forward to many more exciting moments to come!
